Scripps Ranch (13-1) earned a berth into its first CA CIF STATE Championship game with a win vs Valencia 45-38. Junior Quarterback Jax Leatherwood continued to show why he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the state adding to his impressive season totals. Through 14 games this season Leatherwood has thrown for over 2900 yards, 265 yards a game, completing 70% of his passes with 41 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. When Jax isn’t connecting with senior wide receiver Conor Lawlor (1100 yards with 17 TD’s) he hands the ball to senior running back Jalen Shaw. The workhorse is averaging over 9 yards a carry and close to 900 yards on the ground. Add in his receiving yards, Shaw has over 1200 yards of total offense with 19 touchdowns.

The Falcons victory matches them up with the Wilcox Chargers (10-4). Wilcox plays in the De Anza League and finished 2nd to league champion Los Gatos. The Chargers lost 41-18 on September 24th to the Cats. Since then, Wilcox has been on a 9-game winning streak that includes a Central Coast Section championship versus Menlo (54-20) and semi-final victory against Manteca (35-21) to earn the right to play Scripps Ranch for the State 2-A Championship.
